Bulb forming plant that is very long lived. All part of the aconitum are toxic - care should be taken with pets, children and sensitive skin.

Care:

Monkshoods grow slowly and do not like to be disturbed once established. Plant monkshoods in light shade in moist, humus rich soil. Doesn't do well in dry soils. In cooler climates monkshoods can be grown in full sun, but water well in dry seasons. Though they don't need it, they can be divided in spring or fall - being poisonous they can also be irritating to the skin.
