Height Light
4 - 6 ft. Shade Late Summer White 3 - 8

Aka: Cimicifuga racemosa. Adds architectural height and late summer bloom to a shaded part of the border or shade garden. Also effective in woodland gardens, cottage gardens and naturalized areas. Its large size allows it to fill in shade areas later in the summer when showy spring ephemeral have gone dormant.  The white candelabra-shaped flowers are fragrant, the attractive leaves are deep green, and the whole plant is generally deer/rabbit resistant.

Easily grown in average, medium moisture soils in part shade to full shade. Prefers humus and organically rich, moisture-retentive soils. Foliage tends to scorch and otherwise depreciate if soils are allowed to dry out. Best sited in locations sheltered from strong winds. This is a slow-to-establish plant.
