This species is hardier than hubrectii and not a vivid in the fall but it's thread-like foliage and form during the rest of the year is more impressive. Produces 2-3 in. clusters of small, light blue star-shaped flowers. After flowering it grows quickly to its full height and adds a billowy, finely textured, shrub-like element to the garden. In the fall it will light up the garden with its golden orange color

Care:

Amsonia is native to moist woods and banks but is easy to grow in just about any moist soil in full sun to part sun. If grown in too much shade or rich soil it can become open and floppy. In either condition, the stems can be cut back to 6 to 8" after flowering to produce a fuller growth and more fall color. Heavy root system make it difficult to transplant but can be divided in spring given proper care.

Other Attributes:
Deer Resistant Good cut flower
Long season interest
