Named because it shares the colors of the Polish flag, 'Viva Polonia' is a cheerful, easy growing, large flowered clematis. Red flowers are accented with a white star. Flowers abundantly in early summer on old wood, and blooms continue to appear through the season on new wood.

Clematis can be grown in full sun or light shade, but its base and roots must be completely shaded. This vine prefers to be grown in moist, well-drained, slightly alkaline soil. Adding lime to the soil will help to provide these conditions and a thick layer of mulch will help retain moisture though again the soil must be well-drained. Prune back to 3' tall in early spring.
