Improved version of the classic fore-bearer of the many varieties available and still one of the most dependable and interesting. Rich, lavender to purple shaded petals droop slight and draw butterflies like crazy. An improved cultivar of the species purpurea that is native to North America. The prickliness of the leaves and stem of echinachea make them resistant to deer browsing.

Care: Echinacea are native to the eastern U.S. and are well adapted to withstand severe conditions. Light, loamy soil is best but any well-drained dirt will do. They like it sunny and hot. Deadheading spent flowers significantly prolongs their bloom time. Seeds readily.
