12 - 18 in. Partial Sun 4 - 9

This colorful sport of 'All Gold' features similar glowing foliage that becomes more intense golden yellow with deep crimson leaf tips when grown in part sun. Cool fall weather draws out additional deep orange and burgundy tones. Forms a neatly cascading clump.

Hakonechloa is most at home in shaded, woodland environments where the soil is rich and loamy.  This grass will not grow in poorly drained soil, heavy clay, or very dry soils.  Part to full shade is best; full hot sun tends to scorch the leaves.
In the northern extent of it range a winter mulch is helpful. Cut back in early spring.
