Goldenseal is a fairly common plant with a lot of history and lure surrounding . It is often dug for medicinal reasons. The plant contains different alkaloids and was used in folk medicine to combat everything from cancer to stomach aches. It is, however, toxic and should not be eaten.

Care:

The preference is dappled sunlight during the spring to light shade during the summer, moist conditions, and a fertile loamy soil with an abundance of leaf mold.
