Generally called French lavender and one of the best for bouquets, potpourri, and culinary uses. Lavender is a bushy shrub with aromatic, silver-gray leaves and spiked, lavender purple leaves. Provence is one of the larger lavenders producing masses of fragrant, intense purple-blue blossoms atop silver-green foliage from midsummer through early fall. More tolerant of damp winter soils.

Will benefit from the addition of calcium (lime or shells) and DRAINAGE is a must. Limestone in the bottom of the planting hole is a good idea. The majority of herbs are relatively pest and disease free and require little more than a well-drained sunny site, lots of room, and moderately fertile soil to thrive. Adding organic matter to the soil regularly will help provide consistent nutrients. Avoid nitrogen-rich fertilizers.
