There are countless varieties of oregano. This variety native to the mountains of Greece offered here is the most common. A herbaceous perennial that get quite large in girth but is not particularly invasive.
Uses: Best known in tomato sauces and Italian dishes it has a place in many international cuisine. As with many herbs, oregano began as a medicinal but these uses have faded.

Care: The majority of herbs are relatively pest and disease free and require little more than a well-drained sunny site, lots of room, and moderately fertile soil to thrive. Slightly acidic to neutral pH. Adding organic matter to the soil regularly will help provide consistent nutrients. Avoid nitrogen-rich fertilizers.
