In the right places a perennial, evergreen shrub. \'Arp\' is one of the hardier varieties and does okay in mild or protect areas of zone 6; however, the wrong combination of winter weather can take it out.
Uses: Other than burning it to ward off the Black Death, relegate Rosemary to the kitchen allowing its wonderfully distinctive flavor mix with countless dishes.
These are in a 3 qt. pot overwintered in a cold frame and are about 15" tall and full.

Care: Like lavender DRAINAGE is imperative - also needs extra calcium - egg shells, lime, limestone (ie. planted by a foundation wall). Wintering over below zone 7 can be hit and miss. The right soil conditions and protection from winds is important.
The majority of herbs are relatively pest and disease free and require little more than a well-drained sunny site, lots of room, and moderately fertile soil to thrive. Slightly acidic to neutral pH. Adding organic matter to the soil regularly will help provide consistent nutrients. Avoid nitrogen-rich fertilizers.
