One of those plants that seem bionic. Will just stand there and bloom all summer. Very showy in mass plantings but has a tendency to be overused in the garden.. 1999 PPA Plant of the Year

Care:

Does not like overly rich soil but, yes, well-drained. Sun is best but will do okay in partial sun. Deadhead to encourage blooms and prevent self-seeding. Do not deadhead these cones if you want winter interest since the black seed heads remain attractive throughout the winter and the seeds provide a source of food for small birds. Easily divided in spring.

Other Attributes:
Pollinator Friendly Good cut flower
Dries well Attracts butterflies
Long season interest
