One of the most popular perennial salvias given its long bloom period. Dense spikes of deep violet-purple flowers are produced in early summer and will continue longer if deadheaded. This is a clump forming plant with oblong leaves which are aromatic when crushed. Use it in containers, beds, and borders. 1997 PPA Plant of the Year

Care:

Easy to grow in average to sandy soil (i.e. well-drained) can be floppy in rich soil. Though drought tolerant try to keep them moist during bloom time. If they get out of hand, cut to the ground for fresh new foliage and possibly some late season flowers.
